the whole truth review

David Baldacci is almost always a safe bet for me and this one was no exception.

Keanu Reeves effectively anchors The Whole Truth, but a capable cast can only do so much to keep the lingering mystery afloat before logic weighs it down. I really liked the premise of the story and the build up to the final confrontation, but I thought the last quarter of the book tried to wrap things up a little to quickly. Still an intriguing concept I'm sure no one wants to contemplate in real life. I give this book 3.5 stars and found it an enjoyable read. It’s a Baldacci book! Courtney Hunt's film is minor in scale but remains entertaining and modestly engaging throughout, and though it lingers a bit too long on its big reveal it never overstays its welcome. Reeves plays Richard Ramsay, family lawyer and longtime personal friend to the late Boone Lassiter (Jim Belushi), a rich Southern blowhard found stabbed to death in his bedroom. Audiobook - 11:22 hours - Narrator: Ron McClarty, David Baldacci is almost always a safe bet for me and this one was no exception. The real mystery is what this script must have contained that didn’t make it onto the screen, because at a meager 93 minutes, “The Whole Truth” feels like a fraction of some larger, more ambitious project, one in which certain roles — such as the doting mother/long-suffering wife played by Zellweger, or the conflicted young legal aide (Gugu Mbatha-Raw) who joins Richard’s team — surely contributed additional color to this drab-looking drama, whose only energy hails from its agitated piano score. This has action flick printed all over it. Trundling along on the drone of Ramsay's pseudo-hardboiled voice-over, "The Whole Truth" plays like an especially claustrophobic courtroom procedural, drably photographed and generically framed. I'm thinking this is going to be another great series. Welcome back. An utterly spellbinding story that feels all too real. He begins this novel ready to retire, wanting to get out of the dangerous business and marry his successful girlfriend. There was the impoverished orphan who grew up to be an all action hero, the beauty queen who could speak 156 different languages, the arms dealer who had come from the. and little verification of facts. Not alot of detail, but sometimes all the details can bog you down. Film Review: ‘The Whole Truth’ Truth be told, Keanu Reeves and Renée Zellweger deserve better than this predictable courtroom drama.

As I mentioned before, the plot of the story was intriguing and I was completely drawn in right away. The characters were strong, but flawed so easy to relate.

It’s the first of a duology featuring “Shaw”, a man with no first name (he uses the letter A. in place of a first name) who works for an unnamed secret international intelligence agency.

Enjoy!

I really liked the premise of the story and the build up to the final confrontation, but I thought the last quarter of the book tried to wrap things up a little to quickly. It raised some interesting points, and made me feel like I was back in political science classes. I liked the Shaw (main) character, though he seemed like every other CIA/FBI/Special OPS character out there. Already there’s something fishy in this arrangement: If Richard was Boone’s lawyer, and Boone is now dead, should he really be defending the No. (I won't expound on this to prevent spoilers). Could a Hybrid C8 Corvette Called the E-Ray Be on Its Way? He heads up the world's largest defense contractor, The Ares Corporation. Nicolas Creel is a man on a mission. Each time a main character was introduced, Baldacci felt it necessary to give the reader that character's life story, including how amazing they were at what it was they had chosen to do. As Baldacci says in his Postscript, "And by using these methods, a major untruth can be established so quickly and overwhelmingly across the world that no digging by anyone after the fact can make a dent in the public consciousness that it actually isn't true at all.
As Baldacci says in his Postscript, "And by using these methods, a major untruth can be established so quickly and overwhelming, Once again Baldacci writes a good mystery with his usual "page turner" pace.

Nicolas Creel is a man on a mission. Meanwhile, Richard has his work cut out for him trying to defend Mike with no help from the young man, and yet, he makes swift progress by painting his late friend Boone as an overbearing monster, using cross-examination to present an image of someone who got what was coming to him. and the Terms and Policies, Variety and the Flying V logos are trademarks of Variety Media, LLC. He shows how PMs could manufacture facts and then sell them to the world as truth. When the whole truth arrives in the final act, viewers will find it hard to care. But Creel may have an even grander plan in mind. Whatever the explanation, the resulting film feels like a missed opportunity, one that volunteers the observation that “all witnesses lie” and proceeds to cast in doubt everything that anybody says — a formula by which only the accused, who keeps his mouth shut, seems above suspicion. Loved it. I give this book 3.5 stars and found it an enjoyable read.
